Introduction

This page lists a few common and useful MRI sequences available at the imaging center.

T1 anatomical
  • Location: anatomy/userdefined3/stroke/T1
  • Time per volume: 400 seconds.
  • Notes: Good structural scan with excellent contrast of gray and white matter. Excellent for segmentation with vbm and coregistration with SPM and FSL.
  • Protocol: This MPRAGE sequence employs a TI of 960ms, a delay of 3000ms between TFE shots and an 8 degree flip angle, with a very short TE (3.7ms) and a SENSE reduction factor r=2. Using this sequence we can collect a 1mm isotropic (256x256x180mm field of view) volume in less than 400 seconds.
T2* functional
  • Location: anatomy/userdefined3/stroke/fmri
  • Time per volume: 1.865 seconds.
  • Notes: Rapid functional scan for analysis with SPM or FSL.
  • Protocol: This EPI scan uses a 90-degree flip angle, TE= 30ms, TR=1865ms, SENSE r=2, 3.3x3.3x3mm voxels, 36 slices.
FLAIR pathological
  • Location: anatomy/userdefined3/stroke/flair
  • Time per volume: 720 seconds.
  • Notes: Good scan for identifying brain injury.
  • Protocol: TE=15ms, TI=400ms, TR=3000ms, SENSE r=1, 0.5x0.5x5mm voxels, 26 slices.
