In general it is expected that all persons or groups using McCausland Center facilities will go through the following steps:
(Note that some of these steps can and should be pursued in parallel.)
- Obtain funding to pay for scanning time
- The schedule of costs is here
- Internal funds are available for pilot studies - click here for request form
- Funding guidelines are available here
- Contact the Grants Director for more information
- Ensure that all IRB requirements for proposed studies are met
- Informed Consent Guidelines - click here
- Mentorship on external grants is possible
- Complete all MRI safety training requirements
- Unaccompanied access to McCausland Center facilities is not allowed
- Download the McCausland Center safety manual here
- Contact Managing Director to arrange for safety training
- Pass your "flying test " to operate the MRI
- Contact Safety Director to arrange for your flying test
- Obtain a current Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital ID badge
- Go to Palmetto Health Security (first floor Medical Park 5)

Bring your valid SC drivers license
or identification
- Ensure your proficient use if the Siemens Magnetom Trio system
- Contact the Managing Director for advanced training opportunities
